Client-Therapist Relationship

The quality of the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important predictors of positive treatment outcomes. It’s crucial that you trust and like your therapist and that you feel you are truly heard and cared for. I try to foster this therapeutic alliance by being my authentic self and by bringing humor, practical experience, and genuine compassion to each session.

I am currently accepting new patients. Clients must be adults and must physically be located in Texas. I see clients individually and do not provide couples or family therapy.

Hello, I’m Carrie Elkins.

My Professional Background

  • Licensed & deeply experienced: I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in San Angelo, Texas with 15 years of specialized experience treating adults struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, and life stressors.

I have post graduate specialized training in:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - CBT Diplomat.

  • Certified CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) therapist.

  • Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider (CMHIMP)

  • I have training in EMDR, the Gottman Method, and neuroscience as it pertains to mental health.

  • My experience includes clinical work at a children’s home, schools, juvenile detention center, community college, mental health hospital, non-profit clinic, and private practice.

  • While most of my experience has been in-person, I have been an online therapist for three years.

A Therapy Journey You Can Trust

Your healing is my priority. Every step of our work together is informed by empathy, expertise, and genuine care—so you can grow stronger, feel lighter, and live a happier, more fulfilling life.

Ready When You Are

If this feels like the supportive environment you’ve been looking for, I’d be honored to walk this path with you. Please reach out to schedule your first appointment.

Human Connection

More than therapy—human connection: I have been married for 25 years and have three children- two in college and one in high school. When I’m not working, you'll find me spending time with family, friends, attending church, scuba diving, traveling, or playing with my dog. I am a Christian; however I am not a “Christian Counselor,” meaning I do not have a formal education or training in theology or Biblical counseling. I see client’s from all beliefs and backgrounds and I will not impose my religious views on you.

Why You Might Connect with My Approach

  • Warm and judgment-free: I do not take on the role of the “expert”, but rather as your co-pilot as we navigate and untangle the complexities you bring to your sessions. Frequent feedback from clients is that they do not feel judged and that they feel safe.

  • Collaborative and personalized: We’ll use evidence-based tools like CBT, EMDR, CPT and neuroscience-based somatic techniques—tailored to your goals and needs—to reduce negative symptoms and help you find clarity, strength, and new ways of coping and relating to others.
